Everything You Might Be Wondering

Common questions, honest answers.

If you can't find what you're looking for here, we'd love to hear from you. Every question is welcome.

Your First Class

I’ve never done yoga before. Where do I start?

Start with B1 Vinyasa Flow, B Gentle, or Restorative — all beginner-friendly. Every class at 3B is trauma-informed, meaning teachers meet you where you are. You don’t need to be flexible, strong, or experienced. Just show up.

What should I wear?

Anything you can move and breathe in. Leggings, a t-shirt, a tank — whatever feels right. No shoes on the mat. If you forget socks or a hair tie, we usually have extras at the front desk.

What should I bring?

Just yourself and a water bottle. Mats, blocks, straps, bolsters, and blankets are all provided at the studio. If you have a mat you love, feel free to bring it.

Do I need to be flexible or in shape?

No. Flexibility is not a prerequisite — it’s a slow result. Every body is welcome. Our teachers offer modifications for every pose, and there’s no expectation to look like anyone else in the room.

Safety & Trauma-Informed Practice

What are hands-on assists? Are they optional?

Sometimes a teacher will offer a light adjustment — a hand on your shoulder to help you soften, or a nudge on your hip to open a pose. Every assist at 3B is consent-based and always optional. You can decline any time, no explanation needed. Many teachers use consent cards at the start of class so you can signal your preference silently.

What does “trauma-informed” actually mean here?

It means every teacher is trained to move at the pace of the room, invite (not demand), name what’s happening in your body without judgment, and offer choices instead of instructions. It also means we never assume — you get to choose how much you participate, how much you rest, and what feels right for you in the moment.

Logistics

How early should I arrive?

Give yourself 10 minutes. Sign in, meet the teacher, set up your mat, take a breath before class starts. If you’re running late, come in quietly — we won’t turn you away.

Where do I park?

Free parking directly in front of the studio at 4801 N University Ave #530, in the Riverwoods. No meters, no permits, no complications.

Pricing & Booking

Is my first class really free?

Yes. Your first class is on us — no card required at booking. We want you to try the room, meet a teacher, and decide from there. Nothing charged unless you come back.

What’s your cancellation policy?

You can cancel or reschedule any class up to 2 hours before it starts, right in your Mariana account. Same-day cancellations within the 2-hour window may forfeit the class credit — but life happens, so reach out if it’s a genuine emergency and we’ll usually work with you.

Community

Can I bring a friend?

Yes — always. Their first class is free too. If you refer someone who signs up, both of you get a class on us. Just have them mention your name at the front desk.

Do you offer prenatal or postnatal classes?

Yes. Elizabeth Alderson teaches a dedicated Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga class every Saturday morning. We also run Connected — a 4-week prenatal series for couples — twice a year. All bodies at all stages of pregnancy are welcome.
